Beautifully presented modern art gallery in a stunning building, was free entry when I went. Also gave out free information booklets about the exhibits on. Very thought provoking modern art in multiple forms :)

Being part of the historic Old College of the University of Edinburgh, Talbot Rice Gallery provides a stunning backdrop for medium-scale exhibitions. I like the layout and the sequence of the space that visitors would experience along the route, starting at a contemporary double-height white space lit by skylight, through several transitional area leading to the neoclassical vaulted hall. The journey itself is dramatic, and the exhibitions I saw were all benefited from the venue which has broadened the possibilities of representation.

@talbotricegallery was a blast. As my first #universitygallery experience in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, I am amazed. - beautiful building in the heart of Edinburgh, with clear and great navigation and orientation system - great participative exhibitions (using UV lights and so) - amazing welcome desk and very helpful and friendly student staff - free entry and accessibility for wheelchair 🦼 or mothers with trolley - small but nice museum shop - feedback forms - reflection and relax rooms Visit my instagram @universitygalleries to find out more. Did you know that Scotland university museums have their own network? @talbotricegallery is also part of @unimuseumsinscotland. What other university galleries and art museums would you recommend to visit?

Disabled access not considered here. A regular wheelchair user was told that they could use the stairs! A medical miracle perhaps? Use of the lift finds one exiting into an unlit area used to stage performance art quite inappropriate for disabled visitors. The final third of the exhibition could not be accessed at all due to stairs only access. The exhibits themselves were a joy and a challenge. The Tower by Jesse Jones and 45th Parallel by Abu Haman were thought provoking and perfectly presented. Contemporary issues of great importance were addressed. Please do go and raise hell if you can’t access exhibits. The Equality Act needs enforcement here!

One of the best art spaces in Edinburgh. The exhibition spaces wind around a bit so make sure you’ve seen everything. They usually feature some of the best contemporary artists working today
